Case Study - Playtest For Battlefield 1
Project Summary
|
This was quantitative research project, for this project in particular, the idea was to create a baseline in which we could evaluate prototypes and builds for different games in the same genre from a competitive analysis perspective.
This is an FPS baseline, so we used Battlefield 4 in order to see what elements were successful with players that are either heavy FPS fans or vehicle combat games. |

Goal
|
For this study, the main goal was to have a baseline about the general opinions of an average FPS player, and have the scores as a baseline to which compare other FPS games that are in the R&D stages. This competitive analysis is also a chance for the R&D team to see where they want to focus on the development of the product, as well as to what elements from other games can be researched in more detail to implement in their own game.

Process
|
Since this is test was performed as a competitive analysis for an NDA game that was in the R&D stages, a quantitative approach was taken, with 64 FPS players that were not experienced with the game being used as a benchmark (Battlefield 1).
In the test, participants played the conquest mode in BF1 for 90 minutes. When playing the game, participants were asked to play as they normally would at home. The data was collected through FluidSurveys and related to the participants experience in the following aspects:
